inxi: Inquiring minds want to know

It is probably time to point out inxi. I like nifty console tools that spit out lots of fun information, and this is definitely one of them.

Hardcore Linux fans might cling to some combinations of dmesg, lspci and others, but what inxi delivers — properly formatted and colorized, I might add — is just as good … if not better.

It’s got more options than you can shake a stick at … which is probably both a good thing and a bad thing. On its own, the lowly inxi command gives a nice quick blurb about its host.

But with only a few more options, it gives away all the dirty little secrets.

Now if you’re a clever one, you’ll find a way to pipe inxi’s output through something like conky … and really drive the geeks wild. :)
